Bar, Sutomore & Čanj
Bar has one local bus network, run by Mediteran Express — the same operator as the buses on the Budva Riviera, but a completely separate set of lines about 35 km down the coast. It links Stari Bar, Bar town, Sutomore and Čanj along the coast road.
There are two services on the sign: the full line between Stari Bar and Čanj, and a much more frequent short-turn that runs only as far as Sutomore. A rider sent us photos of the timetable at the Čanj stop in August 2026 and confirmed the buses are running — but we haven’t ridden these lines ourselves yet, so treat the details below as a good guide rather than a checked timetable.

Is there a local bus in Bar, Montenegro?
Yes. Mediteran Express runs a local line along the coast between Stari Bar, Bar, Sutomore and Čanj, plus a more frequent Stari Bar – Sutomore service. Long-distance coaches to Budva, Podgorica and Ulcinj leave from Bar’s main bus station instead.
How do I get from Bar to Sutomore by bus?
Take the local Mediteran Express bus heading north. The frequent Stari Bar – Sutomore service runs every 15 minutes between 09:00 and 21:00 on the timetable at the stop, and the Stari Bar – Čanj line passes through Sutomore too.
How do I get to Čanj beach by bus?
The Stari Bar – Čanj line runs the length of the coast road to Čanj. On the posted timetable it leaves roughly every 30 minutes through the middle of the day, and hourly early and late.
Is the bus in Bar the same company as in Budva?
It’s the same operator, Mediteran Express, but a separate network — the lines don’t connect, and there’s no through service between the two. To travel between Bar and Budva you want an intercity coach from the bus station.
